so long, farewell.....

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT FROM .CUTE AS A BUTTON
----------------------------------------------------
.cute as a button will be closing its doors and saying
goodbye. But there is always a silver lining to every

dark cloud, I am merely changing my shop's name and
coming up with a new collection (some old items will
make their re-appearance as well) and to give everything
a "face-lift".  I decided that I wanted to have a name
that was a little bit more personal and something that
has a lot of meaning in it (well, to me at least)
=]
I would like to keep the shop's new name under wraps
until everything is completed and up and running, so I
will make another post with a link to the new shop and blog.

New site and collection will be up on 1.22.2010

Thank you so much!!

a day of baking.

"Food is not about impressing people. It's about making them feel comfortable."
Ina Garten

Today was a very therapeutic day full of baking yummy little treats. I absolutely love to bake.......well, let me correct that... I love anything to do with food.  It has always been an important part of my life and it always reminds me of family.  Everyone in my family loves to cook and when I was growing up, we really bonded while preparing and enjoying dinner together.  I really hope that I will be able to pass that passion and that experience on to my children.
Anyways! Lets get back to the day:

It started off this morning helping Kateena with some cupcakes that she was making for work.  We got this idea from my brother, Jason, who made these for my niece's birthday.  They are the CUTEST ever!  Using yellow cake and brownie cookies, we built little mini cheeseburger cupcakes! The "cheese" was made from yellow and orange starburst.  Aren't they adorable?!  The first time we made these for her work, her co-workers actually thought they were cheeseburgers.

Then after making a couple pairs of earrings and taking pictures of them, I decided to try an experiment.  I LOVE butternut squash......seriously..LOVE. So I wanted to see if I could make a butternut squash pie by using my pumpkin pie recipe.
Here are some pictures of my journey:

And now...... the finished product!!

Sooooooooo yummy!  I still have to get started making dinner.  Its kind of a catch 22 with Jose working so much.  I hate that he's gone all day (8:30 am to 10pm), but it makes it a little bit easier trying to have dinner made for him when he gets home so late. =]

Wednesday will be a BIG day of baking (and traveling) for me too. We are going to Polson for Thanksgiving and I always bring the pies.  So I have to make a pumpkin and a cherry pie.... from scratch.  You will never catch me using cherry pie filling!
( And honestly, I have the most amazing recipes from my Grandma.  So even though she is no longer with us, she is through her recipes!)
I also have to pack all of our stuff and load up the car so when Jose gets home at 10 we can hit the road!

Well I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

.HALLOWEEN

So, as promised, here are some pictures of Oliver and Liam in their halloween costumes. I still haven't gotten new batteries for my camera, so I had to quickly take these!

I didn't have time to take pictures of Jose as Max. [Which makes me a little sad because it was really neat.]
I have been so busy knitting hats and making new jewelry, I can barely see straight! =] Once I have a spare moment, I will be posting some new things and adding new items to the sale section.

falling leaves.

Whew! Its been a busy last couple of weeks! The last week and a half of October was occupied with me sewing almost all day, every day. They boys' costumes turned out really well, but both my brother's camera and my camera ran out of batteries so we weren't able to get pictures. =[  So, sometime this week I need to dress them back up and take some pictures!!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  ANYWAYS!! Onto the shop's updates!!

Fall has always been one of my favorite times of the year.  Its so beautiful out!  I love to watch the leaves turn colors and watch the birds start to migrate, it really is inspiring. So, to pay tribute to this fall season, .cute as a button will be posting fall-inspired items.  There will be a lot of birdies, owls, deer, leaves, and fall colors. Here's a little sneak peek:

Thursday, October 22, 2009

so for the past few weeks i have been racking my brain trying to figure out the PERFECT halloween costumes for the boys.  i really wanted them to be amazing and just right, after all, you only have one first halloween! after weeks of this, my roommate thought of something (and honestly i don't know why i hadn't thought of it before since its from one of my all time favorite books!) originally, oliver was going to be max from "where the wild things are" and liam was going to be one of the wild things. BUT THEN!..... jose agreed that if i made him a max costume, he would wear it. (now for anyone that doesn't know jose, he doesn't like to dress up for halloween... at all! so this was HUGE!) so now the plans have changed a bit, jose will be max and the boys will be the wild things. haha of course i couldn't have thought of this before... i now have to completely make from scratch 3 costumes. i have most of jose's done... i just have to make some alterations.. and i still have to go to the fabric store to get the rest of the supplies for the boys.  There will definately be pictures up after halloween. And there will also be some new pictures up of new products.. I have been knitting like a crazy woman! There will be cute slouch hats and legwarmers!

Don't forget to stop by my cute little shop @
